We are sorry to report that one of our newest board members, Allan Cappis, died on October 24 in a tragic motorcycle accident in southern Arizona. Our condolences to his wife, Jennifer; children, Allison (Chris) and Scott; granddaughters Maggie and Carmen and his sister Eva.
Al was born in Camrose Alberta and married his high school sweetheart, Jennifer, in 1973. The couple shared their retirement between their homes in Maricopa, Arizona and Scotch Creek on Shuswap Lake.
Al’s goal was to become active in a positive way for the community of the North Shuswap. His first initiative was to volunteer as a director with the Shuswap Waterfront Owners Association. More was on his horizon.
His family takes solace in knowing Al was enjoying his retirement and doing the things that he loved at his time of passing. Al was happiest enjoying the sun at both places and loved to finish the day with a ‘Caesar’.
Family was always closest to Al’s heart. ‘Cappy’ was a long-time member of the Alberta Oil and Gas industry and always a diehard Calgary Flames supporter.
A funeral will be held on Saturday, November 12th 2:00pm at the McInnis and Holloway, 14441 Bannister Rd. S.E. Calgary, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Calgary Flames Foundation; www.calgaryflamesfoundation.com or STARS Ambulance; www.stars.ca
