This note is an update on our earlier postings. In the past few days We have noted a slowing in the rise of the lake level. The forecasts from the Provincial River Forecast Centre have confirmed our observations and the June 4th forecast for the South Thompson River at Chase indicates that the river discharge will peak on June 8th. This means that the level of Shuswap Lake will also peak on that date at an elevation of 347.7 m (Up 0.4 m (1.3 feet)) from the date of our last posting and 0.14 m (.46 feet) lower that was forecast on May 30th. The peak lake level this year is only 0.1 m greater than the lowest level recorded on the past.
This will be our last update for 2019.
